| Instructions
for
Repairing Plasterboard
|
| 1.
Clear all loose broken surface material around hole
to be repaired with a retractable knife, sand paper
etc. Remove tie strip from patch. If the hole to be
repaired is smaller than the plastic repair patch simply
trim the patch with scissors or a retractable knife
allowing at least 10mm diameter inside overlap to ensure
the patch will not pull back through the hole when applying
tension.
|
 |
Although
not critical, it's suggested patch be used ribbed side
facing outward
2.
Insert tie strip through centre of patch, then feed
it a maximum of 3cm through plastic lock in brace. Fold
patch, insert in hole, place brace on wall and firmly
pull the tie strip, securing patch behind the wall.
The hole is now ready to be filled.
Special Note: (see
diagram) DO NOT pull the tie strip
completely through the plastic lock in brace until the
patch is in the wall.
|
 |
3.
Apply first application of filler product with small spatula,
covering the entire area of hole. This will ensure patch
is locked in place when filler has dried. |
 |
4.
Once filler product has dried, cut tie strip below outer
surface. This will allow locking brace to be removed.
Lightly sand to remove all rough edges and then apply
second and final application of filler product to fully
cover the hole. |
 |
5.
Once the filler product is dry, sand back excess to create
a smooth finish. The repaired hole is now ready to be
undercoated and painted or drilled into if required.
