Instructions for
Repairing Metals

Typical Metal repair may include a hole caused by non-structural corrosion in a car door, a hole in guttering, water tanks etc.

1. Use sandpaper, file or use rust converter product to remove all loose materials such as rust around the hole, leaving the hole clear and clean. It is also advisable to use some pliers or multi-grips etc. To bend in the rough edges around the perimeter of the hole.

2. Cut the tie strip off the patch using a retractable knife or scissors. Place the tie strip through the centre of the patch and lock in brace. The vothole is now ready to be inserted in the hole.

3. Fold the patch and insert it in the wall. The patch springs back to shape covering the inside of the hole. Hold onto the locking brace and pull on the tie strip securing the patch into place on the inside of the repair surface.
4. Apply the filler product. Mix up filler product compatible to use in metal repairs with a spatula. Apply the filler evenly over all of the repair surface. At least two applications of filler are necessary for this repair.

5. Once the first application of filler is dry, cut the tie strip below the repair surface (or inside just inside the hole) and brace falls off. Apply a second application of filler, making sure there is overfill of filler.

6. Once the final application is dry, sand back the filler with sandpaper. It is even easier and quicker with an electric sanding machine. The hole is now repaired, using the vothole leaving a flush finish every time. The hole is now ready to be painted.
(N.B. Because the vothole patch is made from polypropelene it can’t cause any further rust problems etc.)
